Bunker Sands Mitigation Bank
Bunker Sands Mitigation Bank (BSMB) is located in the Upper Trinity River Drainage Basin in Kaufman County and operates in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District.
The privately owned and operated mitigation bank is part of a contiguous riparian corridor along the East Fork of the Trinity River that is increasingly threatened by urbanization. The BSMB creates an expansive greenway along the East Fork floodplain, and is expected to add significant landscape-scale protection to the Trinity River watershed.
The BSMB restores and enhances 1201 acres of bottomland forested wetlands.
The BSMB sells wetland mitigation credits that are approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to fulfill a Section 404 permit holder's mitigation requirements. Mitigation credits provide developers, utility providers, and state and local governments with the opportunity to pay a one-time fee to purchases credits, thereby transferring their projects mitigation obligations.
If you are interested in purchasing credits from the BSMB, either as the site operator or an agent, please call regarding price and availability. Credits are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, or by advance reservation with appropriate financial assurances. Both public and private interests are invited to inquire.
Upon execution of the sale, a mitigation credit certificate will be issued to the purchaser. A copy of this certificate will be furnished to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to verify the completed transaction and satisfaction of the site operator’s mitigation requirement.
